Police arrest homicide suspect

Englewood police arrested Forsythia Owen, 30, who is suspected in the death of 42-year-old Denzel Rainey.

About 1:15 a.m. Sept. 22, officers investigating a report of a man down in the 3600 block of the alley between Sherman and Grant streets found Rainey on the ground.

The police report stated Rainey appeared to have been assaulted. He was taken to Swedish Medical Center for treatment, but later died from injuries he apparently received during the assault.

Englewood detectives launched the investigation and, on Sept. 24, it was announced that officers had arrested Owen as a suspect in the case. The woman, who is believed to have attended Colorado’s Finest Alternative High School, was taken to the Arapahoe County jail and could faces a charge of murder in the first degree.

Police say because the case is still under investigation, they are not releasing any additional information.
