Housing remains a local issue after Littleton residents reject Aspen Grove

Ballot question 301, which asked residents to overturn the rezoning of the Aspen Grove mall to allow for new housing, passed by just under 60% with more than 18,000 votes tallied as of Nov. 10. The vote was somewhat moot, as the rezoning was done through a land use code no longer in effect and Aspen Grove’s owners, Gerrity Group, have been approved for the first phase of a redevelopment project under the new code.

Election Day comes to Elbert County

The 2022 midterm elections have come and gone, leaving Elbert County with a new commissioner-elect, a new county clerk and recorder-elect, and decisions on several school district ballot issues.

Voters in Elbert County received ballots in which all candidates for county-level races on Nov. 8 were Republicans running unopposed, but three school-funding questions offered choices to the electorate.

Copying hard drives led to concerns

When Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced that she was appointing a supervisor in Elbert County for the November election, she pointed to a past incident in her reasoning.  Griswold, a Democrat, cited "a 2021 election security protocol breach where Republican Clerk Dallas Schroeder violated Colorado Elections Rules by giving unauthorized individuals copies of images of the county’s voting system hard drives."

Denver Ballot Issues 306 & 307
Denver measure 307, which concerns sidewalks, has passed with 55.85% of the vote. Ballot measure 306, which advocates dub the "Waste No More" campaign, garnered 70.86% of the votes. Results from the final count came in at 5 p.m. Nov. 17. The election will be certified on Nov. 29.
