Victim of Englewood homicide identified

A man who was found dead on the morning of Sept. 27 along Little Dry Creek in central Englewood has been identified as 23-year-old Bobby Gene Collins Jr.  The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office said on Sept. 29 that it performed an autopsy that found Collins died of blunt force trauma and ruled the death as a homicide.  Englewood police arrested a suspect in the homicide the night of Sept. 27. Arapahoe County jail records show that 27-year-old Lucious Malveaux Jr. is being held on a charge of first-degree murder with a weapon, and also is held on a count of being a fugitive. Collins' body was found at 50 W. Hampden Ave., north of U.S. 285 and west of Broadway, in the area of the former "duck pond" along Little Dry Creek. A previous homicide in the same area took place in 2016 when a Louisiana fugitive, Mikhail Anthony Purpera, killed Patrick Murphy. Purpera was convicted of that murder in 2019.  more
