Two vehicles were involved a crash the afternoon of Dec. 2 on South Broadway near Belleview Avenue that left a 72-year-old man dead and another man injured, according to an Englewood police news release.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the accident, which police responded to at about 3 p.m., according to the release. It occurred in the 5200 block of South Broadway, a short walk south of Belleview Avenue near Englewood's south edge.

The 72-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. His identity was not immediately available from the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office.

The other man, 26, was transported to a local hospital with "unknown injuries," the release said, and his condition was not immediately available.

Only the two drivers involved were in the vehicles at the time, with no passengers, said Sgt. Tracy Jones, spokesman for Englewood police.

Asked whether drunken or otherwise intoxicated driving was suspected as a cause of the accident, Jones said that aspect of the investigation was still pending as of 3:30 p.m. Dec. 3.
