Arbor Day tree giveaway rescheduled

Daylong rain and forecasted overnight snow has prompted the City of Englewood to postpone its planned April 18 Arbor Day celebration.

The planned tree giveaway will now take place from 8 a.m. until noon April 25 at Centennial Park, 4630 S. Decatur St.

Provided Mother Nature cooperates by providing good weather, city employees and volunteers will be on hand in the north parking lot with five different types of young, maturing trees — about 60 trees in all — available free of charge. They also will have about 100 evergreen seedlings.

The event is sponsored by the Englewood Parks Division and the Keep Englewood Beautiful Commission.
