Englewood is planning a two-day event Sept. 27-28 highlighting the city’s artists and arts community.

The event, called Artabout Englewood, provides an opportunity to see first hand what it takes to create a bronze sculpture or how an artist uses oils or watercolors to paint a picture.

More than two dozen artists have signed up to display their works or open their studios to the public. Additionally, there is a free live performances scheduled in the CityCenter Englewood Amphitheater, and a performance of the play, “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” in Hampden Hall on the second floor of the Englewood Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway.

The tour, studio visits and amphitheater performance are free. The ticket prices for the play are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.

For information, visit the city Web site at www.englewoodgov.org or call 303-762-2347 during normal business hours.

Following is the schedule for Sept. 27:

10 a.m., preview of the artists’ works at the Englewood Public Library at 1000 Englewood Parkway.

10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., free guided tours on the Englewood ARTS shuttle, visiting the art work places at the stops on the shuttle route.

Schedule for Sept. 28:

Noon to 5 p.m., self-guided tours of participating artists studio.

5:30 p.m., Closing party and raffle drawing at Joseph’s Art Works, 4006 S. Clay St. Free raffle tickets available at each artist’s studio. Must be present to win.

This is the third year for Artabout Englewood.

“I read about the event and, as an artist who is hoping to establish himself, I came last year to see how others did it,” Littleton resident Sean Petrowski said. “It was a great learning experience and I met so many nice people in the art community. The contacts have helped me at least begin a part-time art career and I am definitely going to be there again this year. It is a great event and it’s just great Englewood does this type activity to let the people know more about the art community in their city.”
