Board candidate information meeting set

Englewood voters elect three members to the school board in November, and the school district plans an information session July 28 for potential candidates for those posts.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the board room at the Roscoe Davidson School Administration Building, 4101 S. Bannock St.

Plans are for the session to provide information about the requirements to seek a position on the school board as well as to hear from current members about what is like to serve on the board.

Jane Urschel of the Colorado Association of School Boards will be a guest speaker. Current members will be speaking about their experience on the school board plus there will be packets of information about the details of running for the office such as election timelines and filing requirements.

The three incumbents, Heather Hunt, Scott Gorsky and Michelle Gonzalez, are all eligible to seek re-election. However, none of the incumbents have announced intentions to seek another term.

The five school board members determine the policies and established the budget for the district. School board members are elected to a four-year term and do not draw a salary for their service. Under state law, a school-board member can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

For information, call the district office at 303-806-2084.
