The City of Englewood announced that repairs to the sinkhole and storm pipe on Oxford Avenue at Navajo Street are finished.
After months of delays due to weather and other unforeseen complications, the city announced in a Facebook post on Sept. 17 that the area is no longer closed off.
“Repairs to both the storm pipe and roadway are complete, and the contractor has removed traffic control from the area,” the statement said.
The sinkhole closed eastbound Oxford starting from Santa Fe Drive and closed Navajo at various times.
The roadway collapsed when a storm sewer blew out during record rains on June 22, and initial hopes were to have the fixes done by late June or early July. Conditions were worse than expected, and rainy weather and the need for custom pipe materials delayed the project for several weeks.
