Marijuana found during assault investigation

Investigation of an assault report led to the discovery that residents of a home in the 3100 block of W. Monmouth Avenue were cultivating about 60 marijuana plants.

The investigation of the assault report began March 6. When the plants were found, Englewood officers worked with agents of the South Metro Drug Task Force.

They removed the plants and the equipment to grow them indoors.

Reportedly several shots were fired in the house during the disturbance. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending against two men who live in the house.

City police search turnsup wanted suspect

Englewood Police officers Eric Lutz and Sam Ayers carried out their assignment to track down and arrest a local resident with at least three felony warrants issued for his arrest.

The two officers in an unmarked car investigated and, March 6, learned the man might be staying in a trailer at the rear of a home in the 4700 block of South Delaware Street.

The officers followed up on the information and, at about 1:45 a.m. located the 28-year-old suspect inside the trailer and arrested him without incident.

He was taken to Arapahoe County jail on the felony warrants.

Apartment trespasser nabbed at scene of crimes

Englewood police located and arrested a man suspected of breaking into several area apartments.

A resident called police about 7 a.m. March 5 when she came home from walking her dog and found a man she didn’t know in her apartment.

Police checked the apartment buildings in the 3500 block of South Delaware Street and saw the suspect in a ground floor apartment of a nearby building where, it turned out, he lived.

Police knocked on the door and, according to the report, the suspect barricaded the door with a chair and went out a rear window. However, officers took precautions and surrounded the building and arrested the 34-year-old man as he crawled out the window.

Investigators reported the suspect appeared to have broken into two apartments March 5 and attempted to break into a third apartment the night before.

Nothing appeared to be taken in the break-ins. The suspect was taken to Arapahoe County jail where he could face charges of first-degree criminal trespass and criminal mischief.

Noise leads cops to arrest female probation violator

An investigation of a loud argument led to the arrest of a 20-year-old woman on parole violations and possession of a controlled substance.

Police were doing a business check about 11:30 p.m. March 9 when they heard the loud argument at the bus stop in the 3100 block of South Broadway.

Officers ran a check on the three people involved in the argument and found a warrant had been issued for the 20-year-old for violation of parole on charges of possession of dangerous drugs.

Police made the arrest and during the routine search, they found a Baggie with suspected drugs in the her pocket. The substance tested positive for crack cocaine.

The woman was taken to Arapahoe County jail on the felony parole violation warrant. Additional charges could be pending.
