Law enforcement personnel arrested a suspect who was barricaded in a home in south Englewood after a SWAT scene that lasted several hours, according to Englewood police. The suspect was being sought by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

A SWAT vehicle was stationed about halfway between Oxford and Nassau avenues on Bannock Street for hours the night of May 12.

The voice of police personnel on a loudspeaker could be heard around 8 p.m. saying, "Englewood Police Department; pick up that phone, man," and "We want to talk to you."

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit had notified Englewood police that the unit was conducting surveillance on a wanted male with felony warrants, according to an Englewood police news release.

Englewood's SWAT team was activated just after 1 p.m. May 12 to assist the Jefferson sheriff's office, according to Investigator Scot Allen, a spokesperson for Englewood police.

At about 6 p.m., the suspect entered a residence in the 4000 block of South Bannock Street and barricaded himself inside, according to the news release. The SWAT Team attempted to contact him for several hours without success. The location is not far from South Broadway and Quincy Avenue.

After roughly six hours, SWAT personnel entered the residence and noticed a hole in the attic barrier between joining units, according to the news release. The suspect was located in the attic of the adjoining unit and taken into custody, the news release said.

At some point May 12, authorities sent out a reverse 911 call to the "immediate area" near the residence, telling people in that area to shelter in place and stay in their homes, Allen said. Police also evacuated a few homes on that block of Bannock Street, Allen said.

Asking a suspect to talk to authorities using a phone that police send over to the suspect is typical in SWAT negotiations, Allen said.

Police believed the suspect was alone in the house, and it's unclear whether the house is the suspect's home, Allen said around 10 p.m. that night.

Allen did not have details on what crime the suspect is alleged to have committed.

The scene wasn't believed to be a danger to the broader community, Allen said around 10 p.m.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jordan Limon, was turned over to Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies, and he was to be incarcerated at the Jefferson County jail, the news release said.

Several other Englewood police vehicles were parked at either end of that block of Bannock Street, and trucks from Denver Fire Department, which serves Englewood, were on scene as well, along with a Denver paramedic truck. The block was closed to traffic during the SWAT scene.

Greenwood Village police vehicles were also at the scene. It's typical for other law enforcement agencies to also respond in a SWAT situation, Allen said.

Englewood police initially tweeted about the incident at about 6:30 p.m. May 12.
