The Englewood Police Department said Thursday it is investigating a murder that occurred in southwest Englewood Wednesday night.

Officers, after arriving at the scene, said they encountered a man with a rifle running west on West Radcliff and arrested him. A woman was found dead from a gunshot wound "at a nearby residence," police said. Police said the woman's identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office.
Though residents were asked to avoid the area, police said in a social media post at 12:19 a.m. Thursday that "there is no threat to the public at this time."
