With a demanding international concert schedule and ongoing
recording contracts, Russian-born pianist Yevgeny Sudbin continues
to gather rave reviews. He will make his Denver debut at 7:30 p.m.
April 29 at Gates Hall, Newman Center, University of Denver.
Born in 1980 in St. Petersburg, he started his training there at
an early age, then studied in Berlin and London.
His itinerary this season includes Zurich, London, San
Francisco, Gilmore International Piano Festival, Pro Arte Musical
(San Jose), orchestral engagements with the London Philharmonic
(Scriabin’s Piano Concerto), Vancouver Symphony, Minnesota
Orchestra, where he will record Beethoven’s Concerto No. 5 as part
of his complete cycle of Beethoven concertos for BIS.
At the Newman Center, his program will include works by Chopin:
Fantasie in f minor op. 49,”Ballade No. 3 in A flat, Op. 47,
Mazurkas: Op. No. 3 in f minor, Op. No 33 in b minor, Ballade No. 4
in f minor, Op. 52; Liszt: Transcendental Etude No. 11, “Harmonies
du Soir;” Ronald Stevenson: Fugue on a Fragment of Chopin and
Ravel: Gaspard de la Nuit.
