Here is a look at other south metro-area games as the season moves into the final two-week stretch:
Highlands Ranch 41, Rock Canyon 10 – The Falcons scored 27 points in the second half and went on to notch an Oct. 29 victory over winless Rock Canyon.
Highlands Ranch improved its record to 3-1 as quarterback Kyle Lindbloom completed 9-of-16 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons. Running back Jarrell Trahan scored twice and gained 130 yards on 11 carries, while teammate Dylan Gurule had 101 yards rushing. Highlands Ranch limited Rock Canyon to only 29 yards rushing.
Valor Christian 63, Castle View 21 – Junior Gavin Sawchuk rushed for 185 yards and scored five touchdowns in the Eagles’ win on Oct. 30 over Castle View.
Castle View held a big advantage in time of possesion (32:05 to 15:55) but couldn’t hold down Valor, ranked second in the CHSAANow.com poll, which rushed for 304 yards.
Regis Jesuit 42, Douglas County 0 – The Raiders jumped to a 28-0 halftime lead and rolled to a victory over Douglas County in an Oct. 30 game.
Broomfield 26, Heritage 13 – Heritage suffered its fourth loss of the season in an Oct. 30 setback to Broomfield, which was ranked seventh in the Class 4A state rankings.
Cherry Creek 45, Overland 0 – Top-ranked Class 5A team Cherry Creek didn’t score in the fourth quarter, but it didn’t matter in a runaway win over Overland on Oct. 30.
Eaglerest 23, Arapahoe 13 – The Warriors held a 13-12 lead at halftime but surrendered 11 points in the second half and were saddled with a setback against fifth-ranked Eaglecrest.
Arapahoe scored on a fumble recovery and a 25-yard pass from Cole Hansen to AJ Scheckenbach to grab the halftime lead in the Oct. 30 game.
Ponderosa 45, Grand Junction 14 — Ponderosa, the state’s fourth-ranked Class 4A team, had 544 yards in total offense in its Oct. 31 win at Grand Junction,
Senior Jake Hanenburg had 414 yards of offense as he passed for 315 yards and three touchdown and ran for 99 yards and two scores. Kolton Miller caught six scoring passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns, plus he intercepted two passes.
Lutheran 50, Pueblo County 18 – Lutheran, ranked fourth in the CHSANow.com Class 3A poll, compiled 564 yards in total offense in an Oct. 30 win over visiting Pueblo County.
Junior quarterback Clayton Jacobs passed for 315 yards and four touchdowns. Sophmore Dorian Pacheco rushed for 139 yards and senior Ryan Kenny gained 125 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.
