Wind damage
John Kohring, left, and Mike Norris join forces to move a section of the trunk while Charlie Auner puts an armload of branches into the chipping machine as the street maintenance crew cleans up remnants of a tree that fell into the street. The high winds that hit the metro area about sunrise Dec. 30 brought the tree behind the house at South Logan Street and East Girard Avenue came crashing down. Fortunately, the tree fell between the garage and the house but it did knock down part of the fence and part of it fell on the sidewalk and into the street on Girard. As of 9 a.m., it was the only downed tree reported to the city but Dave Lee, open space manager, said the high winds did take down branches here and there around Englewood. Photo by Tom Munds
